Here is a picture of Chaplain Cale and I as we prepare for our morning march to the school house. CH Cale is 43 years old with prior military service who served as a pastor before answering the call to work with the troops for Jesus Christ. CH Cale has been patient to teach those of us with no idea of how to be a soldier. This morning he single handedly helped me survive PT. We did an intense upper body workout where we did sets of push ups, sit ups, overhead claps, flutter kicks, push ups, sit ups...you get the idea...I was hurting when the instructor called for us to team up with the soldier in the squad in front of us to do more push ups. My arms and chest were shot but CH Cale took a towel (which we all had to bring) and made a rope under my chest to help me continue. By the end, I think he was pulling me up with his own strength! He is a machine!!!! He maxed the push ups and sit ups on his test and was one of the few soldiers this morning who did the last portion of push ups without any help. And best of all he loves the Lord Jesus!!!!

Thanks CH Cale!
We had our ceremony this morning where we graduated from CIMT and donned the berets as our new headgear. I still get flustered when enlisted soldiers salute me. My tongue gets tied up in knots and I usually make a fool out of myself. (I saluted a sergeant with my left hand today!!! Not good!) Here I'm pictured taking a few items back to supply. I don't need my body armor, gas mask or sleeping bag any longer! At least not until next summer when I come back. I felt good knowing I had made it through the most physically demanding portion of our training! Praise be to God.
I talk to Herbie every night...He is getting to be so big. I can tell his language skills are improving. He tries to show me things through the phone and looks with curiosity at my face on the web cam. I pray every night that God will raise this young man to be strong, courageous, gentle and a man after God's heart. Love you buddy!
We have a short day tomorrow as we say goodbye to those leaving after CIMT. We have PT in the morning, chapel at 8 a.m. and then are free at around 11 a.m. I can't wait to meet Christina later in the day!
Blessings,
Dave

Congratulations son! I'm so proud of all the hard work you've done to get you to graduation day. It's so good to read your blogs and hear how you're continuing to draw closer to the Lord and hear about all your new friends who love and serve Him too. He does indeed lead us to green pastures.
Love always, Mom
