Day 2...Paperwork...Paperwork

I'll try to remember to take my camera with me tomorrow to show you some images from here. What a long day! I'm so tired. We were up at 4 a.m. and just got out of school at 7:30 p.m. with a 45 min. break for lunch.

We gave blood, bought more uniforms, got on and off buses, learned military etiquette, marched, filled out lots and lots of paperwork and more...The only PT we did today was when we got in trouble for a few soldiers being late after lunch. Whew....that hurt! We are still in pastor type clothing but our first PT test is Thursday morning. To say I'm nervous about this would be an understatement. Those who fail this first test will be assigned nightly PT drills to keep up. I really would like to not be part of that crowd. I did pushups and situps during lunch and feel pretty confident about the pushups...but the situps??? After class got out tonight I ran in my dress shoes all the way to my apartment. Even with my backpack on the distance felt great in this thick air. I'm glad I trained in Colorado.

If you watch us march now we look pretty funny. I trip all over myself..."ABOUT FACE!" Now which foot goes where? I hope that by the time we get done with camp we look more professional. I stay out of trouble most of the time by keeping quiet (amazing huh?) and following directions. I even got the drill sergeant to smile today... The candidates here are great! I've met a lot of them and they are great people! When I say I'm from Wyoming and Colorado I really stand out...My friend Daniel and I are the only Denver Seminary students here and no one is from Wyoming. (Most have never been there!!!)

My prayer request is for this sore throat and cold to go away. I've lost my voice (about 75% gone) and it's really tough to answer the commands and communicate. Please pray for healing.

Blessings and Love!

Once again we have to say, "Thank you Mr. Anderson for all the yelling you did at our son whipping him in shape for Hamilton Street Choir." We didn't like it then but perhaps he was helping pave the way for you to keep quiet while you learn the Army ropes. We'll be praying for that sore throat of yours. You know what your Grandma Jessie would have said, "Gargle with salt water!" We love you much. Hang in there soldier. Love you, Mom and Dad

Dave,
We are thinking about you and praying for you.

P.S. Ryan has become lazy and complacent since you left. It's so sad:)

I second Grandma Jessie...gargle with some salt water! You are in my thoughts constantly...although I keep getting images of that movie "Private Benjamin". Remember that one? Anyway, I look forward to reading more about your adventure in the days to come. Doesn't God take us to amazing places when we are willing to go?
Love you...
