Day 37...Great Day to Be Alive!
I had a great day today! Our run this morning was a difficult one but I never gave up and it was a good feeling to hit the shower knowing I had given all I had to give. Running has become a friend I love to hate!!! The pain is overcome by focusing on the joy of pushing myself to be better.
All day long during our various classes our class of 170 Chaplains nervously awaited 2 p.m. At that time we all were to give our first Decision Briefing in front of one of the Majors. I got my turn to go in front of the platoon and was surprised by how nervous I felt inside. As I pushed through the nerves I remembered how much I loved speaking in front of a group of people and God took over. The briefing went well and I spent the rest of the afternoon encouraging those who were even more nervous than I had been. When I finished the Major said, "Hey, road guard! Your work payed off today!" Thank you Lord!
We had another challenging PT session tonight. We had a sprint relay and my team won by placing first at each competition. (Thankfully, I had a few fast guys on the team. But old "Red Thunder" did his part! :)
At 7 p.m. the gang went out for $5 burritos at Moe's. (The Columbia, S.C. version of Chipotle.)
"The Gang" Gathered Before Afternoon Class...

Chaplain Wheat and Sam Olmos...

Time for "Mail Call." This is a moment every soldier looks forward to. (Honey, your cards were so sweet today! Love you!)
I came home and couldn't stop praising the Lord for how much He's done for me. I'm overwhelmed...4 More Days and I'll be Home!!!!

Dinner At Moe's!

John twisted our arms into getting Ice Cream for dessert! Who am I to hurt John by saying no?

Blessings and Love,
Dave

John, you love ice cream, and Big Macs, and "chicken with flat bread"! Thanks for being a good friend to Dave :) Dave, I am so honored to be your wife and I have a ton of friends surrounding me and counting down the days with me till you are home. Maybe they are annoyed with me and are ready to give me back to you?!?!? Well, I am thankful for their friendship anyways, even if they are trying to pass me off! :) You are the best husband, man of God and daddy to our kids! We are so proud of you! We cannot wait to see you!
Honestly Dave...(don't post this because I don't want to sound gay) but I'm really proud of you. I can't wait to wrestle you when you get home and have more push up competitions! It's good to remember how young we really are and how much living we have left to do. Love you.
