We had our ultrasound this morning and the gal doing the exam said..."If I was a betting person, I'd say you've got a boy in there!" We are very happy with the news and are glad Allie will now have 2 brothers to look after her. We like 2 names and will decide between...Noah David Nagel or Bowman David Nagel.
Both names have multiple levels of meaning. According to the Bible, Noah was a Godly man in a wicked time. He followed God when everyone else mocked him for being a fool. Noah is also the name of the lead character in our favorite movie The Notebook. (Allie is the other character!) Finally, Noah Stavnes was a highschool classmate of Dave's who was killed with his brother and three others in a train accident a few days before he and David's senior year of High School. Noah was a gentle and kind person and David went to college on a scholarship in Noah's name.
Bowman is a family name and a personal favorite in tribute to a lot of special people. Joe Bowman was a young man who left his farm in Wyoming to serve his country during WWII. He came to a lasting relationship with Christ while serving in the South Pacific because of the influence of another Christian soldier. (His testimony is part of our reason for wanting to help reach the troops today...) He made very little money as a private in the army but would send most of his earnings home to help support his family. Shortly after the beginning of the terrible war, Joe was killed by the enemy while driving an ambulance. His body was never recovered. His death broke the hearts of my great grandparents. In addition, my grandmother Jessie (Joe's sister) changed our family tree by her choice to raise three kids by herself and made faith in God one of our main foundations. Bowman would be a tribute to a remarkable family.
Tough choice...give us your thoughts...
We're thankful to God for giving us the miracle of our children. Thanks for your prayers!
David, Christina, Herbie, Allie, (Noah or Bowman)

We're so happy for you guys and for ourselves. Wow! Has God blessed our family or what? You know, when we were naming you kids, we didn't really entertain the thought that you can give the child more than two names. How about Noah David Bowman, or David Noah Bowman or whatever. You know, after Grandma's divorce, her legal name became Jessie B. Ennis for Jessie Bowman Ennis. There you have it. Whatever you decide, we'll love the boy and his name!!!!! Mom
Or Bowman David Noah Nagel
Wonderful, powerful names.... Hard to top Herbie James but you have come very close.... No snipping, trust and obey... love, Dad
Both names have a lot of personal meaning for you and it's a tough decision for any parent to give their child a name they will always have. Whatever the decision is (after all, you only have about 4 1/2 months to decide) we are so excited to have another grandson. Love, Mom and Dad N
Hmmm...we really like both names, but I think Noah is our favorite. We are excited for you guys! Another little man in the family...poor Allie will never get a chance at having a normal dating life with two brothers constantly looking out for her. :-)
PS...your blog is looking good!
Congratulations! Kari and I need to have triplets to catch up with you guys. I think you should name him Herby James Nagel II Like George Foreman and his kids since you are on pace to have as many kids as him.
I am happy for you guys. My vote is Bowman David Nagel. Your buddy,
Barry
