Hi Family and Friends,
In 1994 my cousins asked me to drive from my hometown of Douglas, Wyoming to the big city of Denver to see some artist named "Steven Curtis Chapman." I went reluctantly because I had no idea who this guy was and the name "Curtis" sounded funny...(Great way to judge someone Dave!) The concert blew me away as he played his guitar and told stories about his wife and kids. I could feel the annointing of the Holy Spirit as he sang and I became a big fan.
Fast forward 14 years and I still love this guy. Christina and I went to Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada last night and watched his latest tour. We are getting so old now that we usually leave a concert early (i.e. the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill concert a year or so ago) Not this time! We stayed till the end and had a great night of worship.
Steven's two son's now play with him in his band which really blew me away. His 17 year old is his drummer and his 18 year old is one of his guitar players. They were very talented...I couldn't believe how much talent could be passed down from generation to generation.
Besides my dad, there are few people I admire more than this guy...he is funny, real, a family man, loves the Lord, is a great musician...(Man I sound like a 13 year old teenager at a Hannah Montana concert!)
Anyways, It was good to spend a night with my sweety singing with our guy and worshipping our Lord.... (I added a link to his personal blog which shows a video clip backstage right before last night's concert...fun stuff...check it out under my "Favorite Blog" links.)
Blessings,
Dave
