Hi Family and Friends,
I had a great job interview yesterday for a government position with the National Guard of Colorado. It would be an opportunity to stay near family, near the soldiers, become a Guard chaplain and raise the kids while Christina stays home...It was a long shot and I almost decided not to apply for the position. When I got a call back for an interview I was stunned...Today as I was sitting in class I got a message from the hiring manager. "Uh-oh!" I walked slowly to my van and finally worked up the nerve to call back and hear the news...I was preparing myself for the rejection: "Thanks for giving me an opportunity to even apply for this position. I appreciate your consideration..."
So I get in my mini-van, take a few deep breaths and pick up the phone to hear the news. "Hi David, you have been selected for this position!" I'm not sure my response was professional..."Woo-hooooooo!" She just laughed politely and told me I could start April 15th with flexibility to work around my school schedule. This is a miracle and I'm overwhelmed with God's ability to open doors when I wasn't able to myself.
The position is a government position as the Labor Relations Staff Specialist for the State of Colorado. I will wear my uniform every day and one day pin on my cross as a Guard chaplain as well. I will be with the soldiers I love and be able to stay long-term in Colorado and raise my family! I will be making lots of presentations to the General (TAG) and other ranking officers and work to advocate for our soldiers as they deal with job transitions. I have a ton to learn but I'm very excited for the challenge.
I drove straight from Denver Seminary to Christina's office and ran in and shouted the news! "You can come home now baby!!!" I wanted to thank all of you for praying...I've called many of you with the news but wanted to share some of the details. After I broke the news to Christina we went out in the hallway and thanked the Lord for his provision!!!! I couldn't do it without the Lord!
Many Blessings,
Dave
