The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow...

Two days ago things looked rather bleak. The boot camp I was to attend called and said they had booked all available slots for the summer. The delay in my paperwork when transferring from the Reserves to the National Guard had put my spot in camp in jeopardy. I was pretty bummed! (Ask my wife.)

I asked for prayer regarding boot camp in an earlier post. Yesterday was a good day! 136 spots open for the summer. I believe I'm number 136! Yesterday was filled with phone calls, plane reservations, e-mails, paperwork....AGGGGHHHH! I'd like to say the Lord taught me patience over the last 5 months but instead I believe He exposed how little patience I have. Things are working out...

I will leave soon for Officer Basic Course training. I am so excited! It even appears that I'll have a rental car for my time in camp. Ft. Jackson is so full of soldiers that I was told I may be staying in an Extended Stay hotel for my duration right outside the base gates! Rough huh? (At this point I would have slept on the ground!) The best news is that Christina will have family living with her while I'm gone keeping the family safe.

Today is full of more trips to the military post. Obtain I.D.'s, register cars etc... Please say a quick prayer that everything will get done on time. Pray for strength for Christina as she works full time and tries to balance helping me while we both take care of the kids. Also pray for wisdom as I've been asked to be the special speaker at a Memorial Day service for the American Legion honoring our troops on Monday. (Outdoor service in Thornton at 10 a.m. at Olinger's on 1o4th and Grant if you want to come. Should be a good crowd.) I have no idea how to do military speaking engagements so I have a lot of reading to do in the next few days! Help me Lord. The last thing I want to do is bring dishonor to the veterans sitting in the crowd.

Ran 2 miles in 15:56 this morning! New record. About fell over. :) Thanks for the encouragement on the phone yesterday brother Jon, I thought about what you said and kept going!
