Nothing really exciting to
share today. We had classes all day...sessions on security, equal opportunity, sexual assault and what to do as a chaplain when someone reports an incident, uniform training and more...We were all so sleepy by the end of the day. I, for one, am ready for the more physical part of this course to start. I'll probably regret saying that tomorrow as we take our first PT test.

The 1st and 2nd platoons took their tests today and many, many failed. My hope is that somehow I will pass and be able to avoid the extra daily session of PT. My fear is the sit ups. I am so worried my lower back will go out as my surgery was just six months ago. No one here knows about it and that's the way I want it so we'll give it a go. I need 45 to pass and have only done 30 since I've been in training... Please pray for God's protection as I give it my best. We meet at 4:30 for formation in our PT gear and each wear a different numbered jersey so our score keepers can keep track. (I'm not superstitious but they gave me the number 13. Should I be worried?) I ate salmon and vegetables for dinner this evening and hope I can get 6 hours of sleep before the test. Help me Lord!!!!

Oh, I forgot. I have to bring my road guard gear as well. Because of my second position in the squad I'm the road guard. Whenever we go out for marches and cross a street, I as a road guard, run ahead and block the cars with my light saber flashlight and orange vest. I've been having fun with this job. I sprint as fast as I can and scream "ROAD GUARD PRIDE!!!" I think I'm funny but the drill sergeant keeps giving me the look that says, "I'll see you Monday morning rookie!" You've got to have fun right? The worst that can happen is that I get in better shape. I asked if they had a position for platoon jester but my student leader didn't appreciate the question. Oh well!

Here are a few pictures of all of us on our first day in uniform. Thanks for all your love and support! Thanks for all the e-mails and kind words. Thanks Christina for the gift box and Judy Boyer for the card. It's fun to be singled out at mail call. All the guys tease me when they call my name but hey, road guards can take it right?
Blessings!
