PT this morning was kind of fun! Sgt. Lopez spent about 20 minutes getting us stretched out and then pulled a deck of cards from his pocket. He shuffled the deck and then had me pick the first card. I pulled a Joker! Oh no....25 mountain climbers! Ouch! The next soldier pulled a 1o of hearts so we did 10 regular push-ups...the next card was the Queen of Hearts so we did 20 push-ups...on and on this drill went until our arms and stomachs burned. Spades and clubs would be different types of sit ups. To end the session Sgt. Lopez had us do 100 overhead arm claps. By about 75 my arms were on fire. Ouch!!! I just kept singing that old song: "Playing with the Queen of Hearts..."
Congratulations to Tim Elliott, my former squad leader. He made it home in time to celebrate the birth of his new baby...Praise God! We miss you Tim but are praying for you and your whole family...(Are you doing your overhead claps?)
We were addressed by the incoming Chief of Chaplains today. He seems like a great man of God. He really challenged us with the call to become servants of God and our soldiers during a time of war... We spent the rest of the day in training... We had classes on the Rules of War, Writing Styles in the Army, Assessing the Religious Needs of your Unit...Lots of good information but oh so sleepy at times...

CH Cale deep in thought...
Wesley "Benny Hinn" Alves representing for the Methodists...:)
My friend Femi and me... When I told Femi my mom had sent cookies he told me he hadn't seen his mom in 3.5 yrs. She lives in Nigeria...I was sad and came by his room that night to share my cookies with him...He's such a good guy...
Blessings,
Dave

I always look forward to reading your blog in the evenings...I am so incredibly proud of what you and Christina are doing. On the lighter side, what in the world are over head claps? Jumping Jacks? Please use some wyo. lingo every once in a while. :-)
Comfy

How nice of you to share your mom's cookies. I bet you made your friend's week! Just curious as to how he ended up working to be a chaplain in the US Army when he's from Nigeria. I bet he has an interesting story......
